Uniting Families, Building Community

Welcome to the Fams of Steel Support Circle! This heartfelt initiative was born from the visionary idea of Pam Calfo, the Library Director of the Plum Borough Community Library. Recognizing the need for a nurturing space, Pam proposed the creation of a support group specifically tailored for parents/caregivers of individuals on the spectrum who were engaged in library events.

Enthusiastically embracing Pam's vision, we eagerly joined forces to bring the Fams of Steel Support Circle to life. Our mission is clear – to foster a sense of community among families, providing a platform for networking, advice, relaxation, and mutual support. As parents or caregivers of children on the autism spectrum or with neurological disorders, we understand that the journey can be isolating at times.

Our support group aims to bridge that gap, offering a helping hand and a compassionate community where no one feels alone. We recognize the unique challenges faced by our members and have carefully curated a supportive environment that not only encourages connection but also provides a safe haven for sharing experiences. We feature a new topic every month, guest speakers, and an open and welcoming forum for discussion and communication. Our meetings take place the first Wednesday of every month at the Plum Borough Community Library, from 6 PM to 7:30 PM.

At Fams of Steel, we believe in the power of unity and the strength that comes from facing challenges together. Join us on this meaningful journey, where we strive to create lasting connections, offer support, and ensure that, indeed, we are in this together. Your well-being and the well-being of your loved ones are at the heart of what we do – because at Fams of Steel, we're more than a support circle; we're a family.
